Tennova Healthcare Appoints New Chief Nursing Officer at North Knoxville Medical Center

Knoxville, TN – [September 30, 2024] – Tennova Healthcare is proud to announce the appointment of Misty Freeman, RN, MHA, BSN, NE-BC, as the new chief nursing officer (CNO) at North Knoxville Medical Center. With over 20 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, Misty brings a wealth of knowledge in clinical transformation, operational excellence and patient care improvement.
Misty most recently served as the chief nursing officer at Tampa General Hospital North, where she successfully managed two facilities with extensive services, including emergency and surgical services. Under her leadership, patient experience scores improved significantly and RN turnover decreased.

Misty’s extensive background includes:
- Oversight of comprehensive emergency and surgical services at multiple healthcare facilities.
- Implementation of innovative strategies that improved patient throughput and operational efficiency.
- Leadership in accreditation processes, achieving numerous certifications for trauma, stroke, and sepsis care.
Misty earned her Master of Health Administration from the University of Phoenix and her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of North Alabama. She holds several certifications, including Nurse Executive Certification and Six Sigma Green Belt.
