Tennova Healthcare – North Knoxville Medical Center Enhances Diagnostic Accuracy and Patient Experience with New MRI Software System
12/10/2025
Tennova Healthcare – North Knoxville Medical Center is pleased to announce the implementation of a new, advanced MRI software system designed to significantly enhance image quality, improve diagnostic capabilities and elevate patient comfort during imaging procedures.
This upgrade allows North Knoxville Medical Center to deliver faster, more precise and more accessible imaging for patients across a wide range of clinical needs. With the new technology in place, MRI scan times are reduced by an average of around 35%, dramatically decreasing the amount of time patients spend in the scanner. This improvement can not only increase patient comfort, but also enhance overall efficiency within the imaging department.
The upgraded MRI software also expands North Knoxville Medical Center’s diagnostic capabilities through several advanced imaging enhancements. The new free-breathing abdominal imaging sequence allows high-quality scans without requiring patients to hold their breath, improving access for individuals who struggle to hold their breath.
Dynamic imaging for the breast, liver and prostate offers enhanced visualization based on diagnostic needs and radiologist preference, supporting greater clarity and diagnostic confidence. Advanced diffusion imaging further improves quality by reducing distortion across multiple series, often resulting in more reliable diagnostic information. In addition, prostate imaging can deliver exceptional quality, with exams completed in approximately 35 minutes. This marks a significant improvement over previous systems, where such exams were difficult or sometimes not feasible.
“With this software advancement, North Knoxville Medical Center continues its commitment to combining high-quality care with a patient-centered experience,” said Bill Rich, chief executive officer of North Knoxville Medical Center. “The reduced scan times and improved imaging capabilities often allow our team to provide faster, more accurate results while helping patients feel more at ease throughout their exam.”
