Patient Support
At North Knoxville Medical Center, we believe supporting our patients is an important part of our care. Cancer treatment often involves numerous specialists, procedures and therapies, and can often be overwhelming. That’s why our cancer care encompasses a range of support services that address everything from education and care management assistance, to support groups and spiritual care.
We offer a variety of services to assist you throughout your care, including:
- Nurse navigator – The nurse navigator at North Knoxville Medical Center is a licensed registered nurse who can answer your questions and help you get the treatments you need. They can also help with insurance issues, identify appropriate support programs, coordinate transportation, compile educational materials and much more.
- Cancer education resources – The American Cancer Society Cancer Resource Center is a free service to the community, offering extensive cancer education. The center, located at North Knoxville Medical Center, offers books, pamphlets, videos and computer resources. Trained and certified volunteers provide support to cancer patients, family members and caregivers.
- Nutritional counseling – Eating the right kinds of foods before, during and after treatment can help you feel better and stay stronger. Registered dietitians can help you incorporate proper nutrition to regain strength, rebuild tissue and feel better overall.
